Lovely concentration with mineral infused citrus flavours and a long crisp finish. Kalkstein in German for limestone which gives this wine its distinctive flinty character.
Developed over the last half-century by the currant owners, this is now regarded as one of the leading estates of Pfalz, highly rated by such respected international experts as Hugh Johnson, amongst others. As well as Riesling, this estate has made a speciality of the Scheurebe variety and the Spatlese version has become highly sought after. Aromatic purity and an elegant expression of Pfalz's particular full bodied style are characteristic of these lovely wines.
