Produced with an uncompromising attitude to quality in the vineyard and cellar. Hand crafted from old vine fruit and impeccable quality oak. Rich, complex and compelling.
At the end of the 1980s Mario Rotllant and his wife Carmen Daurella (Ro & Da respectively) decided to expand their love of wine into production. Their aspirations were high. The challenge was to produce, in a prestigious wine area dripping with history, wines that are recognised globally as being the best on offer. Ambitious to say the least, and yet within fifteen years they have achieved just that - Cirsion has been voted Spain's best single wine two years running, and the Bodega has been awarded Spanish Winery of the Year - both in Spanish competitions.
Mario and Carmen commissioned an exhaustive analysis of the best vineyard sites in La Rioja Alta. They found 17 separate vineyards that produced superlative fruit and purchased the land or signed longterm contracts with their owners. These 17 vineyards, between 30 and 90 years old, are meticulously farmed and the grapes are vinified separately until it is decided which of the Roda range wines the fruit will become. Naturally the yields are kept extraordinarily low to maximise concentration and flavour.
